Thorny Devil Access + Industries
Overview
Thorny Devil Access and Industries was founded in the Pilbara by Managing Directors Reece Dean and Ben Rees Mogg, whose family histories reflect resilience, community strength and lived experience across Western Australia. Reece describes how his grandmother Fay “worked multiple jobs to put food on the table and clothe the kids” and believed that “no child should go through what she had been through after being stolen from her mother” . Ben’s family story also reflects courage and determination, with his great grandmother Sarah rebuilding her life in Australia after hardship and separation, raising her daughter Ruby through challenging circumstances .
Both founders spent more than a decade in FIFO operations across major industrial sites. Their experience revealed gaps in remote supply chains, workforce support and safety systems. This led to the creation of Thorny Devil Access and Industries, a business built to “offer a new solution to businesses in the area” and to create a workplace that “fosters a deep connection with its customers” while helping employees “forge a sustainable and prosperous future” .
These foundations align strongly with the Defence sector’s focus on sovereign capability, regional industry development and Indigenous participation. Thorny Devil’s values emphasise integrity, innovation, quality and community commitment. The company states that it stands apart through “unwavering commitment to integrity and exceptional customer service” and is “deeply committed to the communities we serve” .
As a Supply Nation Certified business with locations in Karratha, Port Hedland and Canning Vale, Thorny Devil is positioned to support Defence organisations operating across WA. Its workwear, PPE, safety equipment, testing services and automated PPE solutions provide reliable and scalable support to Defence aligned industries. Thorny Devil continues to strengthen its Defence readiness through partnerships, compliance and community driven capability.
