Overview

Shorewater Marine Pty Ltd was established in 2002 by Managing Director Shaun Williamson, drawing on his background in commercial diving and marine construction to build a Western Australian business delivering high-quality underwater services across civil and industrial sectors.

Over more than two decades, Shorewater Marine has grown from a small diving contractor into an integrated marine services company, expanding its capabilities to include underwater inspection, corrosion protection, marine structure maintenance, vessel cleaning, marine hardware fabrication and vessel charter services. The company also owns Smart Subsea, a CSWIP-certified underwater inspection subsidiary.

Shorewater Marine’s defence sector engagement has developed through its civil marine operations, with the company delivering underwater inspection and marine structure repairs at HMAS Stirling Garden Island and corrosion protection and marine construction works at the Australian Marine Complex (AMC) Henderson — working alongside prime contractors including Ventia and Ertech Group.

Recognising the growing opportunity presented by Australia’s naval investment under AUKUS and the Nuclear-Powered Submarine program, Shorewater Marine has made a deliberate strategic decision to deepen its defence engagement. The company holds JOSCAR-AU supplier registration, ISO 9001 certification, is progressing DISP membership and has submitted an application under the Defence Industry Development Grants Program – Sovereign Industrial Priorities Stream to fund acquisition of defence-grade inspection, corrosion protection and vessel cleaning equipment.

Capabilities

Shorewater Marine delivers a suite of underwater and marine services directly relevant to the maintenance and sustainment of Australia’s naval base infrastructure and fleet assets.

Underwater Inspection Structural inspection of jetties, pontoons, moorings, sheet wall piling, navigational aids and vessel hulls using commercial diving, ROV systems, high-definition subsea CCTV, ultrasonic thickness testing and bathymetric survey. Smart Subsea (SWM subsidiary) holds CSWIP certification for GVI, CVI, UTT, cathodic protection measurement, MPI and ACFM inspection services.

Corrosion Protection Full-lifecycle corrosion management including impressed current cathodic protection (ICCP) installation and monitoring, sacrificial anode replacement, Denso wrapping, pile encapsulation and naval-grade hydro blasting and protective coating application.

Underwater Vessel Cleaning In-water hull cleaning using commercial-grade rotating brush and cavitation systems, addressing biofouling without the cost and downtime of drydocking.

Marine Structure Maintenance & Construction Jetty and pontoon repair, pile restoration, mooring installation, navigational aid maintenance, underwater welding and fabrication, and marine hardware supply.
