Waalitj Foundation
Overview
The Waalitj Foundation aims to lead the provision of education, employment and business opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians. Since its inception in 2005, it has reached over 35,000 people through its commitment to fostering community partnerships and engaging and empowering individuals, families and community groups to break the cycle of disadvantage. The Waalitj Foundation employs and develops local Aboriginal people in its areas of operation with a vested interest in the sustainable success of our programs. The Foundation celebrates Aboriginal culture as one of the longest surviving in the world and continues with an unwavering commitment to increase opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across Perth and regional Western Australia.

The Waalitj Hub can provide ongoing support to contractors and Aboriginal suppliers participating in Defense projects/contracts.
The Waalitj Hub
The Hub services:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses; and
- Businesses seeking to employ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people or procure from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses.
The Hub helps Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses by:
- Supporting business capability and capacity building through our business coaches and specialised service providers
- Linking businesses with industry, major project opportunities, and supply chains;
- Access to our Burswood office facilities and hosting pop-up Hubs throughout the regions
The Hub supports organisation’s Aboriginal engagement and participation strategies by providing:
- Opportunities to directly engage and support Aboriginal businesses
- Access to knowledge and resources to support the development/management of engagement & participation strategies
- Connection to appropriate work ready programs and employment service providers, to assist with identifying and sourcing employees
- Advocacy and constructive feedback to organisations & Industry
- Opportunities to support the Waalitj Hub develop the capability/capacity of Aboriginal businesses across WA
